Conference & Exhibition "AtomEco-2008"

Moscow, Info-Space Business Center

5 December, 2008

The State Corporation Rosatom and Atom-Innovation Center invite you to join and participate in the Conference and Exhibition “AtomEco-2008”

The AtomEco-2008 Conference will be reconvened in 2008 following the success of the last year conference held in Moscow. The last-year event caused a substantial interest among the world-wide nuclear community involved in radwaste management, decommissioning and dismantlement, environmental remediation. The Conference featured more than 400 representatives from as large as 80 organizations, agencies, companies, research institutes from Russia, USA, France, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Germany, UK, etc. Of them should be outlined the following recognizable organizations and global reach companies as JSC Atomenergoprom, NAC International, Canberra, Energy Solutions, Nukem, Sogin, Ansaldo Nuclear, U.S. Nuclear Regulation Commission, U.S. Department of Energy, EBRD, STUK, NAEK Kazatomprom, Moscow Radon, JSC TVEL, JSC Tekhsnabexport, etc.

The next AtomEco will take place as of December 5, 2008 at the Info-Space Business Center, Moscow. This event will be arranged in the form of a one-day business arrangement and run with the two concurrent parts: exhibition of best technology solutions and equipment, and workshop with panel sessions on major radioactive waste management, decommissioning and dismantlement, environmental remediation.

The Exhibition will demonstrate the most up-to-date solutions and emerging technologies to be provided by organizations, facilities and private companies operating both in the Russian and global markets. The following areas relevant to nuclear fuel cycle operations and technology development will be covered: radioactive waste processing and disposal, nuclear facility decommissioning and dismantlement, spent nuclear fuel management, instrumentation and control, nuclear engineering services, transportation logistics, rehabilitation of contaminated lands, etc.

The principal focus of the Workshop is a discussion of the issues of latest trends and achievements in the field of radioactive waste management (RW), Spent Nuclear Fuel management (SNF), decommissioning and decontamination, environmental remediation. The importance of those issues, as well as their timely resolution in the most cost-effective and publicly acceptable way, become evident taking into account the recent tendency towards the renaissance of the nuclear energy worldwide, and specifically in Russia.

Invited panelists from Russian authorities, Russian and international nuclear industry research institutions, companies and facilities will discuss such the vital issues of nuclear industry development worldwide as:

- Nuclear engineering services for RW and SNF

- Crosscutting policies and programs

- Regulation and oversight

- SNF management challenges (long-term geologic disposal vs reprocessing)

- Decommissioning and dismantlement (legacy waste problem resolution, environmental remediation, new technology solutions)

- "Nuclear fuel cycle back-end" challenges of nuclear renaissance

- Opportunities of international cooperation

- Transportation and logistics (packages and casks, security)

- Emerging technologies for LLW and ILW, HLW, NORMs, etc.
